The goddess Bast, also known as Bastet was first and foremost a protectress of cats and those who cared for them.ﾠ She was known to express the qualities of a lioness, grace, strength, caution & fidelity to pride.ﾠ The domestic cat became highly regarded by Egyptian civilization as an animal of awe and wonder as early depictions of Bastet were of a priestess with a cat’s head.
